Gardening Good-byes...

It was an incredible first season for the garden and I learned so much about food production. I think I am definitely hooked and will probably do whatever I can to grow as much food as I can on whatever ground I have to call my own. Whether that's half an acre or a tiny 2 foot bed of dirt. What an incredible feeling to be able to watch as seeds turn into curling green vines, create bright flowers, and then provide you with food. This year the garden was completely organic and did pretty well; most of the veggies were fairly good size and as we continue to compost all of our food waste, fall leaves, and other garden greens, the soil quality will continue to improve. I am committed to keeping toxins out of our ground and our food...so it will be an adventure each year as I learn friendly ways to deal with bugs, mites, and other critters who want to share my food with me. Here are some pictures of our last few days of harvest and the delicious things we were able to concoct out of the good food!
A handful of a bean!

Peaches, raspberries, plums, and purple carrots all harvested by us!
Asian eggplant, red pepper, and basil planted, tended, and harvested by us!

A harvest meal of stir-fry and smoothie from fresh ingredients! Yum!
